This fun shawl was inspired by La Boca in Buenos Aires, Argentina. La Boca used to be a shipyard in Argentina’s capital. The dockworkers that lived there built their houses from cast-away ship building materials like planks and corrugated sheet metal, and there was never enough leftover paint to color an entire house -- the homes and businesses in La Boca are a rainbow of patchwork colors. The neighborhood has never lost its colorful exterior, and El Caminito is now a touristy street in La Boca, full of steakhouses, street artists, and tango music.

Needles: * US5 (3.75 mm) and US6 (4.0 mm) circular needle, or size to obtain gauge at least 40” (102 cm) long.
Gauge: 23 stitches and 36 rows = 4” /10 cm in Garter Stitch using the smaller needles after a light blocking. Exact gauge is not critical, but because the shawl requires nearly the entire skein of each color, deviation from the gauge will affect the size of the shawl and yarn requirements.
Techniques Required: Knit stitch, basic increases/decreases, mosaic knitting, picking up stitches from a garter edge.
