 I named this shawl Destin because I was 75% sure my family was going to take our first trip after Covid to sunny Destin, Florida, and I really wanted to take pictures on the beach with this shawl....

But, then we saw hotel and AirBnB prices -- I think everyone had the same plan!

We went to the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Texas instead. It was a weekend of screaming children, giant water slides, and lazy rivers. Plenty of fun, but it didn't feel right to change the name of this lovely shawl!

So, here is to a future trip to Destin, maybe in 2022 or 2023!

This shawl is worked from the bottom up. There are two sections to this pattern, the first section is comprised of a bobble cast-on, and rows of eyelets and button holes -- the stitch count doesn't change in this part. Next, comes a series of short rows to create the "crescent" shape finished with a stretchy Icelandic bind-off.

Measurements
Depth: 12" (31 cm)
Length Along Top Edge: 58" (147 cm)

Yarn used in sample:
La Jolla by Baah Yarns; 100 % SW Merino; 400 yds (365 m); 115 g (4.1 oz); Fingering Weight
* C1: "La Perla" 1 skein (approximately 382 yds (349 m); 110 g (3.8 oz) needed)
* C2: "Maldives" 1 skein (approximately 369 yds (337 m); 106 g (3.7 oz) needed)

Needles:
US6 (4.0 mm) circular needles, or size to obtain gauge at least 40" (102 cm) long

Notions:
Tapestry needle

Gauge:
18 sts / 28 rows = 4" / 10 cm in Garter Stitch after wet blocking
Exact gauge is not critical, but because the shawl requires nearly the entire yardage of each color, deviation from the gauge will affect the size of the shawl and yarn requirements.

Techniques Used:
Bobbles, binding off/casting on stitches mid row, YO, garter stitch, Icelandic Bind Off

Additional Notes:
Pattern is written out and has been professionally technical edited. This is a digital knitting pattern pattern, you will recieve a copy of the pattern sent to your e-mail inbox as well as instructions on adding the pattern to your Ravelry library (if you would like to add it!). Thank you!
